Employers need skilled workers faster than the country trains them. Construction needs 349,000 net new workers in 2026 and 456,000 in 2027. Manufacturing needs 3.8 million workers by 2033. At the same time, U.S. adults answer only 49% of basic personal finance questions correctly, and Gen Z scores 38%.
The money and the programs exist. Workforce Pell opened on July 1, 2026, and pays for training programs as short as 8 weeks. Registered apprenticeships reached 714,000. What is missing is a single, trusted, weekly place that tells people where to train, what it pays, how to pay for it, and how to build on the paycheck once it arrives.
